Kamuyot
A jubilant celebration for both audiences and dancers thanks to its exuberance, energy and emotional depth, Kamuyot is evidence of art’s immense capacity to create transformations.
Created in 2003 for the young dancers of Batsheva Ensemble by Ohad Naharin, Kamuyot breaks down the traditional barriers between the audience and the dancers, helping the audience to feel part of a communal experience. The fifteen dancers create a welcoming, magical space, punctuated by eclectic sounds ranging from Japanese pop to reggae to music from cult TV programmes.
Motionless, quiet sequences alternate with the calligraphic curves and geometrical lines of the meticulously drawn movements of explosive dance.
