After some twenty pieces, Opus 07, the seventh installment of a ten-part project begun in 2000, is the quintessence of James Carlès’ choreographic approach and marks the culmination of a long period of choreographic and personal research: “Opus 07  is, for me, a sense of peace, a page that closes and a new one that opens… the end of my work on rupture and identity. Today, the path seems clearer to me… ”

James Carlès combines dance and music with two other “body partners” to which he gives a prominent place in this solo: scenography and lighting. Far from being accessories, they allow the choreographer and dancer to confront new constraints, to develop a new form, to construct and deconstruct space…

As in previous pieces, the musical dimension is essential. James Carlès and Vs_Price have collaborated on a musical creation that draws its inspiration from the work of Albert Ayler. The dialogue between the two artists continues on stage, as the music can be played live, giving the performers the opportunity during the performance to explore other possibilities while following a well-defined framework.
