One to one
One to One is a solo performed by Juichi Kobayashi, a character and hero figure who is engaged in a confrontation in a space defined by a table: his own territory.
A hero because, after a career as a soloist with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, he decided to commission me to create a solo for him at the age of 52, specially designed for the Yokohama Dance Festival in Japan, DANCE DANCE DANCE AT YOKOHAMA.
The stage, meanwhile, is a place of passage that takes on different values of exchange; a place of communication but also a privileged space where one can recharge one’s batteries and regain strength.
Gabriel Fauré’s two “Pavanes,” masterpieces that are both powerful and poetic, allow Juichi to rise spiritually, thus sublimating his presence. In this solo, I want to reveal his own character and the forces that drive him: powerful and sensual in a spiral of movement.
The choreography expands the time of the dance, constructing time as a cycle of its own, reinforcing the sensation of living each moment of life intensely!
