Lobo symbolizes the wolf. He is emblematic of the civil rights movement. The wolf is a majestic animal. It has great inner strength and feline beauty. It is wise and has a deep survival instinct. But Lobo is taken from his natural habitat and placed in an environment that is completely foreign to him. To survive in this new environment, he must adapt, change, and give up his identity, his language, and his customs. He abandons his identity and, as a result, inspires fear and rejection. Without his identity, he suffers to the point of losing his self-respect. His life is hard. He must fight. He must take the necessary steps to find his place or simply fade away. A reflection of their existence.
