Le Cerf se voyant dans l'eau
This fable embodies a moral, powerful and palpable archetype that leaves plenty of room for a creator’s exploration. It is not often that one can work on such a clear narrative line; this prospect is then intimidating. The Deer Seeing Itself in the Water by Boyzie Cekwana is a tale about the African plains where he decided to transform the deer into a gazelle. The challenge is to evoke the tension and color of a vast landscape with two dancing bodies. I hope to reveal, through the dangerous bet of one animal, the spirit of survival that accompanies all who walk the African expanses.
